Camp Thimbleberry Awaits You
Where kids explore God’s creation through fun and faith
Our Camps
Hands-on nature learning with faith and fun for elementary kids, K-4th grade
July 6-10 Nature Art
USING CREATION TO CREATE: At art week, campers get to learn about many types of art styles and techniques from artists all over the world. We will also learn how God placed pigments in the natural world around us. Our projects will focus either on creating art that represents nature or create art with natural materials. We will use different techniques to bring life to ordinary things! Projects include creating night skies with wax and torn paper, using leaves and flower petals to create a mosaic butterfly picture, creating garden rock art and more!
June 15-19 Forest Animals
CREATURE TRACKING, HABITATS and GOD'S DESIGN: This camp introduces campers to our forest dwelling neighbors through observation, story and art. We learn about the types of habitats our local woods provide and who likes to live where. We listen to bird calls and match them with our local bird roster. On nature walks this week, we look for animal tracks, feathers, fur, and creature sightings. Hands-on activities include casting animal tracks, creating animal masks, and designing a “creature hotel”. By the end of the week we hope each camper can identify the call of our resident raven and barred owls!
KEEPING COOL: During water week, campers get to stay cool with water play each day of camp, but we will also be exploring water science all week. We will learn about the water cycle and create our own mini versions; we will visit the creek and look for water dwelling creatures; we will learn about water surface tension and conduct experiments. All living things need water, including our campers! Expect a lot of fun water play, stories and projects during water week!
July 13-17 Water Week
THE WILDERNESS IS CALLING: Has your child ever wanted to be a scout? This is the perfect week to try it out! We will be learning about the tools needed to explore the natural world. The campers will learn how to use a compass, binoculars, walking sticks, knot-tying, trail signs and maps to find their way around the forest and take notes about what they see, smell and touch. They will learn about different wilderness safety rules when hiking or camping as well as some simple first aid. This week ends with a campfire and s’mores (parents invited!)
